Vera Wang Drops Out of Fashion Week
The designer drops out of Fashion Week due to the poor economic climate.
The list of well-known names opting out of presenting at the tents—which costs between $100,000 and $750,000—is growing. Betsey Johnson and Carmen Marc Valvo have also canceled.
There is no denying that the current economy is impacting the fashion industry as much as it has other industries.

Just over a year after a similar raid on the same Harry Winston store on the Avenue Montaigne, another meticulously planned robbery took place yesterday.
Millions of euros were stolen. The cheapest piece they stole was a platinum ring worth €2,000. The most expensive item: a €3.2 million diamond-studded bracelet.
A reward of $500,000 USD (352,000 €) has been offered by Harry Winston in Paris for any information leading to the recovery of the stolen merchandise

Graphic Designer Axeel Peemoeller- Interview
Axel Peemöeller is a young freelance graphic designer. His collaborations can be found around the world in different industries such as music, literature and fashion, just to name a few.
He currently lives in Hamburg but has lived all around the world.
I was fascinated by his creativity after seeing some of his work.
I also had the opportunity to ask him a couple of questions..
Q: I understand you have done some work with fashion? What have you done?
A: For about five years I was running a small label which was mainly about print graphics. I have also designed graphics for some skate and snowboard companies. At the moment I am working for a girl's fashion label. But as I am a graphic designer, I mainly design the graphics that go on the fabric of garments, labels and tags. I would love to work on a corporate identity or on a shop fitting for a fashion label.
Q: What inspires you?
A: I love life and I love looking and touching things, everywhere I go I keep my eyes open. I get inspired by mechanisms, nature, animals, music, constructions, errors and processes.
Q: Where do you get ideas from?
A: Hard to say, I try to force myself to think in different ways, try to find an alternative solution which is different to the obvious, I try to simplify thoughts and ideas or show a process. Usually while experimenting I get ideas.
Q: With what industry would you like to do a project with (a new industry)?
A: If I can morally agree to the industry and people's intentions, it would be any industry. Interesting projects can be done for any industry, so it depends more on the client. I wish I could do more environmental design or objects like sculptures.
Q: What and where has been the most visually creative thing/place you've ever seen/been?
A: Oh at first I didn't know how to answer this, but the underwater world in Malaysia was definitely the most visually creative place I have seen.
Q: What is your favorite color??
A: Black

Pirelli Calendar 2009 by Peter Beard
It is Peter Beard's turn in the 2009 edition of the famous Pirelli calendar.
Last year Patrick Demarchelier's images made us travel to Shanghaï and this coming year's destination is Botswana.
Through Beard's images, he communicates his distress towards the destruction of nature.
«My preoccupation, entrusted Peter Beard, is the global level of the destruction of nature. We completely forgot on what is evolution based and until what point nature's diversity is so important».
Under his guidance, seven fragile models pose alongside elephants, seeming to return to a wild state.
It is a setting that screams sincerity.

FASHION ICON- Iris Barrel Apfel
She has been called a creative force, a fashion icon and a woman with an incredible eye. She is one of the most vivacious personalities in the worlds of fashion, textiles, and interior design. Iris Barrel Apfel has become even more celebrated as a woman with remarkable offbeat taste in clothing and accessories.
Her personal style is both witty and peculiar. Her originality is typically revealed in her mixing of high and low fashion with discoveries from flea-markets.
"On the streets in New York in the summer, everybody looks like they’re going to the shower…the flip flops…it’s so awful."

Jean Paul Gaultier Prepares his Burial
Fashion taboo challenger Jean Paul Gaultier, surprises (to some, others are not surprised anymore by Gaultier's ability to be ahead of his time) once again by preparing his own tomb.
Jean Paul Gaultier wanted to have a safe space for him and his family in French history, therefor he renovated a white stone tomb at Paris best-known cemetery PereLachaise; where Chopin, Proust, Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison lie.
